Red Hill: Overdose on North NC226 Highway

RED HILL, N.C. — Report of a person who overdosed at a residence located in the 4440 block of North NC226 Highway. Emergency responders and law enforcement were requested to respond.

Reported by the caller as a medical emergency involving an elderly male who accidentally overdosed on narcotic medication Oxycodone and was unconscious. A Hospice nurse was on scene and requested Narcan. Emergency responders with Bakersville Fire and Rescue and Mitchell County EMS as well as officers with the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office were requested to respond to the scene to provide further assistance.

Update: A law enforcement officer on scene was able to administer 4mg Narcan to the patient and he was regaining consciousness.
