BAKERSVILLE, N.C. — Report of a hazardous chemical spill located on Buchanan Drive. Emergency responders, emergency management, and county law enforcement officers requested.
Reported as the hazard being diesel or kerosene being that has spilled into the crek. Emergency responders were requested to respond to the scene to further investigate and provide further assistance.
Update: Emergency responders have identified the source of the chemical spill as coming from a fuel tank with a cut line at a residence on Buchanan Drive. The responder advised that the line was most likely cut yesterday and that a substantial amount of fuel had leaked into the creek, polluting it from the area of Gateway Market and possibly as far as Bakersville Fire and Rescue Station 3.
