Fork Mountain: Motor Vehicle Collision and Unresponsive Person on NC261 Highway

FORK MOUNTAIN, N.C. — Report of a motor vehicle collision and unresponsive person located in the 1800 block of NC261 Highway within the Fork Mountain fire district. First responder, paramedic, and state law enforcement emergency response requested.

Reported by the caller as a collision involving a car and bicycle resulting in property damage and personal injury. It was reported that a 16 year old female was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle. She was reported to be unresponsive as a result of the collision. First responders and paramedics were requested to respond to the scene to provide further assistance. Law enforcement was requested to respond to the scene for further investigation and to file a police report of the incident. Medical air transport was requested to launch and respond near the scene for patient transport to a medical facility.

Update: A first responder on scene advised that NC261 Highway would be shut down to all traffic while emergency personnel work the scene of the accident.

Update: A first responder on scene advised all first responders have cleared the scene and the roadway has been re-opened.

Update: A law enforcement officer investigating the incident advised that there was NOT a vehicle involved in the collision.

    It was my sister in law. She was hit by a car while riding her bike to town. She’s 23, will be 24 next month. Not 16. There WAS a vehicle involved. Prayers are appreciated
