BAKERSVILLE — Authorities believe they have located the body of a Bakersville man who was recently reported missing in a shallow grave.
Detectives and officers with the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are on the scene of a location off White Oak Road which contains, what they believe, is a shallow grave containing the deceased body of missing Joshua Emmanuel Buchanan.
Until the shallow grave and its contents are carefully unearthed by detectives, they will not positively confirm that it is, in fact, a body, or that it is the body of Mr. Buchanan, but are expecting the worst.
Detectives suspect Mr. Buchanan’s death is far from accidental and that he was murdered.
Arrest warrants for Felony Second Degree Kidnapping have been secured for two suspects, Felicia Fox and Travis Bowman, who are believed to be connected with his disappearance. Detectives believe the suspects have fled the state and may be in Georgia.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. Additional information regarding this case will be made available as it is released to the public.
Joshua Emmanuel Buchanan, age 26, was reported missing on October 2, 2016.
