BAKERSVILLE — A new truck was spotted rolling the streets of Bakersville on Friday.

Bakersville Volunteer Fire and Rescue received a $688,000.00 federal grant to purchase a new Ferrara HD 107 ft. ladder truck.

Reaching for the sky. The Ferrara HD 107 is the 12th largest truck in the nation in use by volunteer fire departments.

Mitchell County Commissioner Vern Grindstaff said in a statement “I am very proud of the men and women at the Bakersville Volunteer Fire and Rescue¬†and the diligence to seek this grant out. I would also like to thank Crystal Young for writing the grant.¬†This truck will serve the citizens of Bakersville and Mitchell County well and will help save lives for years to come.”
